Supply List

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup milk, juice, or liquid of choice

  • Food coloring (various colors for vibrant eggs)

  • 1/2 teaspoon agar agar powder

  • 1 teaspoon sweetener (sugar, stevia, or honey, to taste)

  • Whipped cream (store-bought or homemade)

  • Colored sugar grains (for decoration)

Instructions

  1. In a small saucepan, combine 1/2 cup of your chosen liquid (milk, juice, etc.) with 1/2 teaspoon of agar agar powder. Note: If you are using packaged jello, you can skip steps 1-6, and follow the steps on the package.

  2. Stir the mixture thoroughly to ensure the agar agar is well incorporated.

  3. Place the saucepan over medium heat and bring the mixture to a gentle simmer, stirring continuously.

  4. Once simmering, add 1 teaspoon of sweetener to the mixture, adjusting to taste if needed.

  5. Continue to simmer for about 5 minutes, allowing the agar agar to dissolve completely.

  6. Remove the saucepan from heat and add food coloring to achieve your desired vibrant colors. Mix well. You can also add your food coloring directly to the egg molds. I used a little of my colored sugar and achieved virbrant colors.

  7. Carefully pour the mixture into plastic Easter egg molds, filling them.

  8. Allow the filled molds to cool in the refrigerator to set.

  9. Once the jelly has fully set, gently remove the jelly eggs from the molds.

  10. Using a small spoon, create a well in the bottom third of each jelly egg.

  11. Fill the well with whipped cream. You can use store-bought whipped cream or make your own using the recipe below.

  12. Optionally, add food coloring to the whipped cream for additional color. You can also add the jello you removed from the egg to create the well to your whipped cream for texture.

  13. Finally, sprinkle colored sugar grains over the top of the whipped cream for decoration. To create colorful sugar, just mix with a small amount of food coloring.
